In addition to the scheduled performances for the public, the program will be performed for other local schools. “We like the music, and we love working with the kids. ![]() McKee said one reason he and his wife decided to come back to the program is he missed interacting with the students, and Blast was a good opportunity to do so even though they are retired. I’m glad it’s kept going all these years.” “When I retired, we just didn’t think we could do it anymore,” Rick McKee said. The first Blast was held in the early 1990s, and the McKees led it for 18 years before handing the reigns to Paige Scruggs, who led it for three years. ![]()
